Causeway Bay Events - June 2027
June is the start of Hong Kong's hot, wet season: temperatures sit in the high twenties to low thirties, humidity is heavy, and the typhoon season is under way. For a district built around air-conditioned malls connected by the MTR, that is not really a problem — but it does mean June's Causeway Bay calendar is about one big festival and a lot of indoor time.
The month's anchor is Tuen Ng, the Dragon Boat Festival, on Wednesday 9 June 2027, a public holiday with races across the territory's harbours and beaches.

Tuen Ng — Dragon Boat Festival
📅 Wednesday, June 9, 2027 — public holiday; races harbour-wide
Hong Kong's loudest summer festival: dragon boat crews race across the harbour and beaches to the beat of drums, and the city eats zongzi (bamboo-leaf rice dumplings) by the thousand. It is free to watch from the shore; racing venues are spread across the territory, and the closest water to Causeway Bay is the harbour itself. A genuinely joyful day out if you have never seen it.
📍 Location: Races harbour-wide (cheered from the waterfront); Causeway Bay-adjacent viewing on the harbour
💵 Price: Free to watch
🏷️ Categories: Festival, Sport, Traditional, Family

🌳 Indoors & Year-Round
The district's reliable wet-weather options, open all year:
The MTR-connected malls
Times Square, SOGO and Hysan Place are each connected directly to Causeway Bay station, which makes them the obvious answer to a sudden downpour or a sticky afternoon. Beyond shopping they hold food floors, cinemas and cafes, and they stay open through the worst of the summer weather.

Victoria Park — early mornings only
The park is open 24 hours and free, but in June the sensible window is just after dawn, before the heat and the crowds. The dawn tai chi groups are still out on the central lawn.
📍 Location: Victoria Park, Causeway Bay (Tin Hau MTR, Exit A)
💵 Price: Free
🏷️ Categories: Park, Outdoors

🎓 Courses & Workshops
Rolling schedules rather than fixed 2027 dates:
PMQ workshops and Taste Library (Central)
📅 Rolling — regular scheduled sessions
A short ride from Causeway Bay, PMQ's design studios and its Taste Library run food, craft and design workshops on a rolling programme. A good indoor option when the rain sets in.
📍 Location: PMQ, Central
💵 Price: Varies by workshop; book with the provider
🏷️ Categories: Course, Craft, Food, Design

Dawn tai chi and qigong on the Victoria Park lawn

The coolest hour of a June day. Free to watch and easy to join; get there early before the sun climbs.
📍 Location: Central lawn, Victoria Park, Causeway Bay
💵 Price: Free to observe; confirm any class fee with the group
🏷️ Categories: Course, Wellness, Tai Chi
🧭 Practical Notes
Typhoon season
June opens the typhoon season. Keep an eye on the Hong Kong Observatory's warnings; when a signal is raised, attractions close, ferries stop and the malls stay open as the safe default. Never plan a boat trip or a hike on an uncertain day.
Dragon Boat day logistics
Races start in the morning and the shoreline fills early. Take the MTR to your chosen viewing area rather than driving, and expect packed trains on 9 June.
Heat management
Do the outdoors between 06:00 and 09:00 or after 18:00. Between those hours, stay in the MTR-connected malls or the museums a short ride away.
