Causeway Bay Hong Kong shopping district - vibrant street scene with shoppers, neon signs, and modern buildings

Causeway Bay Events - July 2027

July is the hottest month of the Hong Kong year and the peak of typhoon season, so Causeway Bay's calendar is dominated by two things: a public holiday at the very start, and the Hong Kong Book Fair at the Wan Chai convention centre in the middle of the month. Both are easy from the district.

The Book Fair — the 37th edition — is the one to plan around if you are here. It runs for a full week from 14 to 20 July and turns the HKCEC into the biggest bookshop in Asia, one MTR stop or a short ride across from Causeway Bay.

🧭 Practical Notes

Book Fair timing

The fair's weekends are extremely busy. Buy your ticket and go on a weekday morning if you want room to browse; the HKCEC is reached from Causeway Bay via Wan Chai on the Island Line.

Typhoon season

July is a peak typhoon month. Keep the Hong Kong Observatory warnings in mind; on a high signal the fair, attractions and ferries close, and the MTR remains the most reliable way to move around.

Heat

With temperatures often above 30°C, plan the middle of the day indoors. Causeway Bay's malls, the Book Fair and the museums a short ride away (M+, the Hong Kong Palace Museum, the Hong Kong Museum of Art) are the natural choices.

FOOD AND DINING

While often visited for the Shopping the visitor should not forget that Causeway Bay encompasses a wide range of dining options, from the casual to the sophisticated. Within area are examples of many of Hong Kong's most authentic and distinctive styles, as well as international choices to fit all palates and budgets.
